In this lecture Dr Kealy presented her recent research into Teresa Deevy’s 1935 play The King of Spain’s Daughter suggesting how Deevy’s education and extra-curricular cultural activities in the Ursuline Convent, Waterford form the intellectual and creative ground work to Deevy’s work generally and The King of Spain’s Daughter in particular. The lecture provided an overview of the play’s production and publication history positioning Deevy’s work within the social and political context of the 1920s and 1930s.
