Board Member, Irish Research Council (IRC). The IRC is an eleven-person sub-board of the Higher Education Authority (HEA) which leads the strategic development of the Irish higher education and research system. The IRC remit is to support and enhance human capital development and to provide policy advice on postgraduate education and on more general research matters to the HEA and other bodies. As an associated agency of the Government Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, IRC membership is by ministerial appointment. I am also one of three Council members on the HEA’s Standing Committee on Research and Graduate Education and on the IRC’s International Engagement Advisory Group. Sole Institute of Technology Sector representative on Council.
