In this talk, delivered as part of the WIT International Women's Day events Dr Kealy argued that to question sanctioned ways forward is to become annoying and creatively disruptive. Dr Kealy explained her resolve to creatively disrupt sanctioned paths in WIT so as to create new ways, different and diverse ways, to tackle institutional sexism, racism, abelism and other forms of inequality. Citing Aurde Lord Dr Kealy argued that we cannot fight old power in old power terms only suggesting that we must attempt to create new structures that touche every aspect of our existence while resisting and troubling the existing order.
Dr Kealy argued that to be annoying is to be troublesome, to be angry, resistant, disruptive, rough-edged and sharp but asked her audience to accept also that to resolve to become more annoying is a resolve to being committed to ensuring that more people can become visible and creative and confident in taking a resistant stance whenever that occasion presents itself. Dr Kealy's contention was that a resolution to become more annoying is a commitment to becoming actively engaged in creating new and more equitable structures.
