With a grant of $34,000 from Google, the project allowed cross-disciplinary undergraduates to assess, conceive, design and implement a wide-ranging, Pay-Per-Click (PPC) search-marketing campaign that drove 20,000 unique visitors to the the Historic Sotterley website.

Historic Sotterley is a non-profit based on a historic plantation in Hollywood, Maryland, USA. It's mission preserve the plantation and facilitate the public in experiencing and learning its history. The plantation was founded in 1703 and traversed each era in American history. The plantation had an extended history of enslaved workers. Part of its mission is to act as a focal point for descendants of persons associated with the plantation.

The project was delivered along with documentation of the research carried out and a training and strategic discussion with the lead marketing team of the organisation. The applied research was reported as having a wide impact on the design of a newly developed website and of new strategic initiatives of Historic Sotterley.
