The Department of Sport and Exercise Science undertakes research across the full range of discipline specialisms including physical activity, health promotion, clinical exercise programming, exercise physiology, biomechanics, coaching, strength and conditioning, nutrition, player development and sports management. At any given time, we typically have 20-25 research postgraduate students registered in the Department, with most on PhD research tracks. Our research involves active collaborations with national and regional stakeholders in the sports, physical activity and health promotion sectors including both Waterford hospitals.  The research groups based in the Department are the Centre for Health Behaviour Research and the Football Research Group.
