Biography

Adam Stead is a Visual Artist, Agriculturalist and Lecturer at the South East Technological University, Ireland on the BA (Hons) in Art and BA (Hons) in Visual Communications and Design programs. Currently Adam is undertaking a cross-disciplinary research-based PhD funded by the South East Regional Development fund (SERD) between Art and Agriculture. This research investigates how Irish Creative Practitioners (Artists) engage with contemporary rural agricultural land use in Ireland and how they can mediate narratives to re-think farming practices for the 21st Century at a time of ecological and climate crisis. As a visual artist and researcher Stead has worked collaboratively on commissioned work exploring contemporary agriculture with: The James Hutton Institute (funded by the British Academy); independent arts centres and organisations including The British Council and Tate Modern; and numerous projects concerning dairying and shepherding with the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) at the University of Reading, UK.
