Dr Barry Lambe is a lecturer in Physical Activity and Health. He has over 20 years experience in both physical activity promotion and research. This includes working as a physical activity promotion officer with the Midland Health Board and as a researcher with the Irish College of General Practitioners. He has been a tutor for the National GP Exercise Referral Programme, a trainer for the National Men’s Health Training Programme and is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers. Barry completed his PhD in the area of active travel and has supervised several postgraduate students to completion. He has been internal and external examiner for several Masters and PhD students and is a peer reviewer for several academic journals.
Barry's current research interests include; walking and cycling for transport, physical activity and mental health, and all aspects of health-enhancing physical activity.
Barry teaches across a range of health-related modules; ranging from physical activity epidemiology to physical activity interventions. He also teaches motivational interviewing in several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
