Biography

As a Principal Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (PFHEA), with over 30 years professional and academic experience within Industry and Higher Education, Dr Clare Power has significant expertise in RPL, curriculum development and delivery, Adult & Further Education, EDI, Quality Management and Research.
Clare currently leads a team of eight academics at the Literacy Development Centre SETU, which offers awards from NFQ L6-9, facilitating the education and training of existing or prospective ETB tutors and practitioners within literacy and Adult & Further Education.
Clare is a member of the national Project Advisory Group (PAG) New European Agenda for Adult Learning (NEAAL), which is chaired by Aontas. Clare is also Vice Chair of the WWETB Regional Adult Literacy Coalition and Chair of the Academic Committee and board member of the Food Safety Professionals Association.
Clare has extensive experience in EDI within SETU, having previous membership of the SAT, EDI Commitee and current membership of the ESP Committee.
Clare has robust experience in programme development and most recently led in developing a NFQ Level 6, 20 Credit programme for adults with intellectual disability to study in SETU which helped secure 1.186m PATH funding to support this programme.
Clare’s keen interest in research, has resulted in successful funding applications, PhD supervision and external examination, journal and conference presentations and publications.
