Katie Scallan, BBS, MBS in Accounting and ACA is a lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the South East Technological University (SETU). Katie currently lecturers on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the School of Business, delivering moodles including auditing, financial reporting, corporate interpretation and finance. Katie is the course leader for both the Masters of Business in Finance and Business Analytics and the Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Finance and Business Analytics.
Katie previously trained with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Prior to leaving PwC Katie worked as an assistant manager in the assurance division. During her time in practice Katie gained experience in a variety of financial services for both public and private entities across many different industry sectors. Services provided include: statutory audits, group reporting engagement, non- audit services and FRS 102 transition services.
In 2018 Katie commenced her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Collette Kirwan, Dr. Richard Burke and Dr. Ray Griffin. Katies PhD explores board meetings and boards of directors in the not-for-profit sector. Katies PhD successful received funding from the Irish Research Council and the Irish Accounting and Finance Association (IAFA).
