Biography

Dr Leana Reinl,

  • Academy lead, Management Practice & Business Development in the BRIM (RIKON) research centre (rikon.ie).
  • Irish Research Council Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellow (2014-18).

 

Research interests:

  • Micro and small firm learning and innovation capability development
  • Social learning and knowledge exchange environments and spaces (including multi-stakeholder networks, Communities of Practice and Living Labs).

 

Leana’s Masters by research, PhD and postdoctoral research each explored learning and small business management capability development and directly contributed to the design and execution of research-led intellectual development programmes, incorporating partnered projects with full-time students and small business owners.

Research disseminated in internationally renowned Small Business and Tourism journals including 3 papers in Tourism Management, a four-star journal, as well as the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, Hospitality & Society, and the Journal of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

 

Key achievements

▪ 2022- 2025. Work Package Lead (WP3 Living Labs) HORIZON-CL6-2022-COMMUNITIES-01-01 project (Gender Equality in Rural and Agricultural Innovation SystemS (GRASS CEILING) 2023-2025 which seeks to support women led innovation through a Living lab methodology.

▪ 2018 – present. Academy lead, Management Practice & Business Development in the BRIM (RIKON) research centre (www.rikon.ie).

▪ Published in a top ranking 4* Tourism Management alongside other journal publications and book series. Dual academic/practitioner roles on several National and International funded research projects I simultaneously completed a Masters by Research, PhD and Post-doctoral research, co-edited a book and have numerous publications as outputs of this work.

▪ IRC MSCA Research Fellowship (Oct 2014 -17: valued at €217k) and subsequent 8-month extension for additional research and dissemination (Oct 2017- May 2018: valued at €57.5k.)
