Biography

Dr Marina Green is an Internal Medicine specialist and holds a PhD in micronutrients and targeted nutrition from the Nutrition Research Centre Ireland, South East Technological University. She received her medical degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Medical School, Mexico in 2011. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the National Insitute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, Salvador Zubiran, Mexico in 2016. She is board certified in Internal Medicine by the Mexican Board of Internal Medicine since 2016. After completing her training in internal medicine, she was subsequently awarded a grant to and a scholarship to attein a doctorate in targeted nutrition and wellness. Currently, she is the Research Support Officer of the School of Health Sciences, providing support to research related activities in health related areas.

Research Interests

Dr Green's work has focused on the impact of specific micronutrients, such as carotenoids and omegas, on human health, metabolism and function. Such micronutrients are found in the human diet and have specific benefits to human physiology and specific roles in visual function and cognitive performance. Diet and lifestyle are factors with a direct impact on the nutritional status and wellbeing of an individual, which affect the overall function and health. Dr Green is interested on metabolism, the relationship between nutrition and health, and developing public policies to improve lifestyle and health care.

She is currently supervising masters and PhD students and mentoring postgraduate students.
