Personal profile

Biography

My career spans more than 35 years in telecommunications, many of them spent with Ericsson in Stockholm, Sweden, before I came to Ireland in 2010 and joined TSSG, as it was then. I came to Ireland to continue my research and also to embark on a PhD in the area of self-organising networks, while at the same time I had managerial duties; the latter eventually took over and I couldn't sustain my parallel spare time work on my PhD. I hope to return to it though, hopefully with a start full time in September 2024.

I have learnt telecoms from ground up where my career started to develop layer 2 layer 3 protocols, continued into working on routing protocols specifically, but them also QoS, switching, multicast, VPN and higher layer protocols. Eventually I became more of a system architect and was part of laying the foundation for the Future Networks flagship projects in EU FP7 (which later continued into Horizon 2020/Europe and now 6G-IA), where the first iteration was the 4WARD project.
