Biography

Michelle is a management and marketing professional with over 15 years experience of working with small to medium sized enterprises in hotels, hospitality industry and tourism contexts; and more recently teaching in further education and training in the South-East of Ireland. She is registered to teach in FET with The Teaching Council and holds a Certificate in Training and Development (QQI), a BA (Hons) in Tourism Marketing (SETU), and MSc in Digital Marketing (ITC). Michelle is a recipient of the SETU President's PhD Scholarship Award (2020) and her doctoral research is focused on exploring the psychological conditions under which faculty engage in research activity in their professional roles at work in Technology Universities in Ireland. Michelle serves the PG student research community at SETU in her role as a member of the Research Postgraduate Forum and as Student Ambassador for CRIS (the Elservier-PURE system) at SETU. She is also a member of the Educational Studies Association of Ireland (ESAI), the Academy of Management (AOM), and Ireland's National Adult Learning Organisation (AONTAS). Her professional background of working in industry in management roles and as an external consultant, combined with a history of working in adult education has shaped her outlook and view of the importance of practical 'real world' research. Michelle enjoys reading, swimming, walking and her family life with her young children who remain a priority to her busy and active life.
