Sean Byrne is a lecturer in the Department of Accounting and Economics in the School of Business and a Joint Programme Leader for the Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA). Sean enjoys lecturing in the field of research methods and in his base discipline - Management Accounting, in which he worked for many years before entering higher education. He has spent some time managing and supervising undergraduate and post graduate dissertation processes and projects, which has been very rewarding and gives him great pleasure to see students' rigorous research work culminating in completed dissertations.
Sean has professional experience in his industry which commences on an approved Chartered Institute of Management Accountant's (CIMA) graduate training programme with a blue-chip UK-based multinational. Having qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant, Sean gained experience in operating divisions, corporate head office, and in some of the international subsidiaries. Sean also worked in various Management Accounting roles before promotion to managerial level.
Sean is a member of the AIB Centre for Finance and Business Research, and has a keen interest in researching management accounting practices, roles and education
Sean teaches at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, but predominantly at postgraduate level, including doctoral level programmes.
