Biography

Tomás Dwyer is a lecturer in marketing and management modules in the Wexford Campus of the South East Technological University. He has served on Academic Council, the Research Ethics Committee as well as contributing significantly to module and programme development and participating in institutional and programmatic reviews.

Tomás obtained a Bachelor of Business Degree from the Institute of Technology Tralee.  He subsequently completed a Master by Research in Waterford Institute of Technology before completing a Doctorate in Trinity College Dublin.

Research Interests

Tomás is a research supervisor at undergraduate and postgraduate level and has acted as an external examiner, journal reviewer as well as being research active.  He has published and presented in peer reviewed journals and conferences in his discipline area.

His research has focused on a number of areas relevant to regional small to medium sized enterprises. Of particular relevance is research undertaken related to the food sector (local food as a destination attraction, stakeholder’s definitions of local food and consumer attitudes to sustainable food), micro business capabilities (the use of social media by tourism providers and strategy making in small businesses) and broker influence in rural business communities. His research has also examined the market orientation of regional small to medium sized enterprises as well as in higher education institutions.
