Abstract
Sarah Bates Evoy examines the views of six part-time tutors in Irish
Further Education selected from a larger project. She explains the poor
employment conditions within which the tutors work, but shows that
they enjoy their jobs and motivate themselves to continue because they
see their work as valuable. The narratives are subject to within- and
across-analysis, using Archer’s framework of identity, structure and
agency.
