Professional identities of Irish Further Education and Training Practitioners

Research output: Contribution to conferencePresentation

Abstract

The paper will discuss a PhD research project that examines the professional identities of Further Education and Training (FET) practitioners in the Irish FET sector and considers the impact of recent significant sectoral changes upon those identities. The theoretical approach is informed by the work of Margaret Archer in relation to identity, agency and structure. The methodological design is underpinned by a critical realist position and involves an inductive, grounded theory informed approach to the investigation of the research issues.
